Yesterday saw the Swans take on another of the Premier Leagues big boys, Spurs, who have been flying this season. As well as coming into this game on fire they also had arguably the best midfield in the league with Modric, Bale, Parker, Van Der Vaart all playing. On the drive down it was one of those “well, lets just hope we dont get tonked 5 or 6 nill”
Getting into the club shop for some pre game banter and seeing a team with 6 changes you can forgive us for thinking that we may have been right in hoping to avoid to worst.
I walked around before kick off and found the media area. This blokes pre game analysis for the radio was getting in the way of his team selection for fantasy football. He doesnt even have michel Vorm in goal. My team, well I dropped Sinclair yesterday, so of course he scored. Better that way….
Then the game started and how wrong were we. With the immense Joe Allen and Mark Gower keeping control of things in the middle, the Swans ran the game and if you watch the highlights, you’ll find it hard to work out which was the premier league contenders. As you can see below. The welsh weather even played along…
Anyways, as always I am sure you will have read a million reviews of the game by now, I just wanted to add a few pictures, and a video to show the atmosphere, in what was one of the best games i have seen in years down there. It still annoys me that people go to football, and show zero emotion, and arrive late and leave early, but well thats the premier league I guess, Roy Keane was spot on with his Prawn Sandwich brigade qoute, as we even have them. Such a shame as there are so few tickets going, and so for people to treat the tickets with such disregard it really is annoying.
This is a video of the rendition the swans gave of hymms and arias. Amazing atmosphere.
Anyways, Harry Redknapp was gracious in his post match conference, so I hope Spurs do go on and win the league and stuff the Manchester clubs, but I think they will need Scott Parker and Gareth Bale, so if anyone sees Joe Allen please tell him to let them out of his pocket, as i think they’re still there.
